A town in Kedah , Sungai Petani you can find 3 stalls of famous food that is in HoChiak Programe.

Our first stop is to this 30years or more history of Ice Blended Peanut.

The ice blended was so good and it taste exactly like the COLD version of Peanut Soup ( Fah Shang Wu )

The 'blended drinks' will come with coco powder which gives more Kick to the drinks

You can find the stall selling Laksa too. The Laksa is diffrent from the one we had in Penang Island. The noodles is made from Rice flour and the texture is a bit harder. The soup was very sour .. which is really good ...

Even a 45min journey from Penang island at RM9.00 for the toll including the bridge RM5.60 is worth spending...

This stall is behind the SP Bus station at SP Town ...

Recent trip to KL made me missed Penang food so muchie..

Ya I know it is only a 3 days trip but I felt like 3 years already .... ha ha
Hubby brought me to this cafe , Liverpool Cafe at Batu Lanchang road for our wonderful supper on Saturday night, after our beloved nephew Kevin's concert at Min Sin School.

The place was so crowded because of the Live Football Match during that time and also the Nasi Lemak lovers. There are Char Koay Teow Goreng and a Burger stall too ...

We ordered the Nasi Lemak Sotong and Ayam with comes together with generous amount of Ikan Bilis and Egg..

The taste is so Yummy ... and to me the nasi lemak is as good as SS2 ....

The next round of Nasi Lemak , we will sure go to Liverpool .... Cafe ... hahaha

Hock to Esplanade for Rojak ....

This Rojak stall was again introduced by our President Keith... . ...
The stall is situated at the Esplanade Food Court. The Rojak Paste was good with the chunky roasted groundnuts. Another special thing about this stall that diffrent from others that I had before is we can have Sotong Bakar with the Rojak with additional RM2.00...

Mangoes .... Yummy

The Sotong Bakar is good with the sauce.. Yummy !

You can order the rojak in sticks too ... If you dont favour for the mixed types..

Hock to Kampung Malabar ...

This stall was infroduced by our Super Gow Chiak Gang President Keith.

I was so suprised to see the long sitting customers waiting to be served everytime I went there.

This is the normal Mee Suah with Bak Choh (minced Meat )

The soup was good and the Bak Choh was soft ... Really a Must...

If you can take the Pig's spare parts, then you should order the full package'

You will find the brains , kidney , and etcs.....

( Can u see the brains ???? ... ha ha ha .. not my bowl of mee to go for anyway... :P )

There is also this small stall selling Loh Bak. The Loh Bak is good and the Tau Kua was also something special

We cant denied that Penang is really a Food Heaven !

Even this small coffee shop, we can find 2 good food ....

Monkey Beach .. 26th OCT BBQ

..The BBQ was arranged by the boatman En Rahim ( for those that need the number, please call to Penang Taman negara and ask for En Rahim )

The boat to the Monkey beach was RM120.00 per boat for 10 person.

The BBQ per person is at RM35.00

The charges was quite reasonable for the amount of food and the quality of food.
The BBQ package include 1 tin of Pepsi, 1 bottle of mineral water, marinated chicken, prawns , Fish ( ikan Talang ), Sausages , Burgers , Salad and bread...

After the hike up to the Muka Head Light house which normally needed only 45mins but we took 1 1/2 hours .. the food was really delicous even it is cold..

There is one of the famous Roti Canai stall at Teluk Bahang... opposite Khaleel after Mutiara Hotel.

This small Mamak cafe, Ibrahim brings lots of memories for Hubby....

He used to come with his dad and mum and DURING THE BUTTERFLY FARM JOGATHON many many years back ..hahahah

So finally I am here with him and with my buddies .....

The roti canai indeed was very crunchy and nice ... Yummy .....

The Roti Canai ... nicely goreng and very nice and filing Rm0.80 per piece.

The VEGE curry that goes with the roti and Keith and Hubby mentioned the Fish Curry was good, but for me I dont really like it because of the Fishy smell ... :)

The Teh Tarik kurang manis was also very good......

Nice place for good Roti Canai !

Dinner at Paddington House of Pancakes

..Countdown to my birthday, since mum is not cooking dinner, me and hubby decided to go to QB for window shopping and dinner.

We chose this restaurant for our dinner.

They have 2 choices of seatings open air and inside the restaurant. For me I prefered to dine inside rather than outside merely because of privacy and cleaniness.

Suprisingly when we walked towards the restaurant, we were stop by the waitress telling us the section was closed... ( ha ha ha ) ... So the guided us to the outside table, I think we cant choose not too .. so ... :)

We ordered our food and really disappointed with the service and the food presentations, which the coffee spills all over the cup and saucer and the dessert than comes together with the main course. Reason why is they already prepared the dessert and unable to hold on till our main course finished.

Luckily the food was good, so we really dont bother about the service standard.

Hubby Main course, sorry I forgotten the name, was too disturbed by the ... U know what

Can you see the messy cup ... Oh My god ! The waiter hands might be shaking ... ha ha ha

The dessert " Tressure Box" This is really good. The portion was big and very nice... Will try the next round.. But hope this time I am " allowed" to be inside ... ha ha ha

Hock .. to New Cathay Pulau Tikus 24th Oct

Since is my big day, so hubby agreed to eat what I wanted too ... The funny thing Isuddenly have the urge for Hokkien Mee.. So thinking for around 1/2 hour on where to eat, we decided to go to New Cathay, Pulau Tikus ..
The soup was good not so prawn-sy smell .. hahahaha , Hubby ordered the Loh Soup mixture . Wow really delicious ... and I have satisfied my sudden urge for Hokkien Mee.
Hubby also ordered the famous curry mee. Suprisingly there is this long beans in the soup, which is special compared with other curry mee stall. This is a must to try ..

While we kacau-ing our friend Keith via sms on the nice food we had.. he called us to try to Roti Babi... This is the 1st time I tried this bread, and surprisingly it is not as oily as I imagined ...

Part 5 Hock Till Mainland Food Paradise ( End )

After our delicious Duck and Yvonne and Keith with thier tar pow-s before we leave the Mainland we drop by Hup Hoe Biscuit Shop at Simpan Ampat for the Biscuits shopping' .

Keith was telling us the biscuit is very fresh. I am not a Biscuits Lovers but when you step in the shop, I dont think you can come out empty handed. . :)

The shop is big , clean and full of varieties of biscuits , snacks and my very favourite Bantal Biscuits....

This is Penang Hneoh Pneah ... Per piece is Rm0.40 and Yvonne's was telling it is very delicious and Fresh ...

I am not sure what is the name of this biscuit, but the lady did offer us and Keith bought a big packet.. looks like cream crackers but a bit thicker .. .very nice

The Pandan Phong Pneah that we bought. The Pandan smell was strong and nice. The inside was a bit sweet, but Peter was telling Phong Pneh is suppose to be Sweet ... ha ha ha

The Roti Potong, this is reall good and * A must Try * ....

The vanilla and the butter smell was strong and very very fresh

So after all the food and food and food that we have ... we decided to have our Lunch , Yes I know it is Food again .... wakakakka

Keith brought us to this place ... near to ... to .... alamak forgotten the name .. for Duck Rice.The special about the " duck " is the sauce that goes with the Duck Meat..

Can u see the Cili Padi ... ??? ... Really very umphhhhh * A Must Try *

The Braised Egg .. So So nia ... I think TSC x 2 herbal eggs are better ....

I think this is suppose to be the Kiam Chai Boey .... But tasted like Plain Soup ....

The Fish Balls soup is nice and definately taste better than the Kiam Chai Boey

.. So after all the Dim Sum and Dried Koay Teow and Pork and More Pork .. We decided to go to Prai , near to the NBCT for " Batang Rojak " ( Rojak in Sticks )
Unfortunately the chinese lady that Keith's recomended, her stall was close so we try the Malay Rojak.

There is total 3 stalls selling the batang rojak ... 2 Chinese stall and 1 Malay stall.

There is total 2 type of sauce, non spicy and one is spicy with Cili Padi , very very umphh ... :P

The varieties of Batang-s at the stall and per batang is at Rm0.40.

My comment ????? Ah Chye's gurney drive is still the Best ... hahahahah

We were told my our Tour Guide Keith Tan that the Fish balls is good , so he ordered a big bowl of QQ NenNen ( bouncy and juicy ) Fish Balls for us ...As I am still very full from the Dim Sum, I share the noodles with Peter .... There is also Roasted Pork thats goes with the Noodle ...

Since we wanna try something new, Keith suggested that we should go to Mainland for his favourites food. Our first stop is at Jalan Tembikai at BM for Dim Sum.. The Dim Sum was really tasty and seriously cheap ...

Hock to Xuan Xin Steamboat ..

After my gym and Peter's badminton sessions with his buddies, we both decided to go for something light .. ( yes initially we thought we wanna go for porridge steamboat .. but when we arrived the place, we realised it was a buffet style ... so , from light to heavy ...... hahahaha )

The price was quite reasonable with the amount and quality of food they served .

We Chose the Porridge and Ocean King soup base ... The Porridge was Good .. As I am a ginger lover, I requested for More ginger and wow .. really good
The Ocean King is so so nia ... So next time NO NO for us ....

Seafood should goes in the porridge base... We put in the dried oysters , cuttle fish , big pieces of fish meat , prawns and YES My favourite spring onions .... Yummy

The porridge is really sweet after all the seafood. We put in prawns, cuttle fish , dried oyster , fish Meat .... Wow ...

This is a good place to go for steamboat ....

Breakfast for Hubby

I cannot recall when is the last time I made breakfast for hubby during office working days,because we always late .. hahhaha .. So thought today I made him " loving " sandwiches for his breakfast.

Since I reached home quite early yesterday I went to the Mini Market below my apartment and I bought Ayamas Tuna Fish , a loof of Gardenia Bread and I mixed the tuna fish with 3 hard boiled eggs, dried Mc Cormik Basil Leaf and pepper .. Too bad I cant find carrots and Big Onion at the Mini Market.....................

Hock at Passion of Kerala , Minden Heights

Yesterday evening was great. We have dinner at a famous banana leaf restaurant at Minden Heights Gelugor.

This was my first time there and my second time for Banana Leaf rice. The 1st time was with my best frend Yvonne near little India ...

We ordered several dishes to go with the White rice ...

We ordered the Mango Lassi , Banana Lassi and Sour Lassi....

Hock till Ipoh .. part 3 (end )

Before we headed back to Penang , we stop at this famous Mah Chee ( Penang we called is as Muar Chee ) at Taman Panji . This stall is in the 8TV Ho Chiak programme , dont play ! ... We was struggling to find the place for nearly 1/2 hour and lucky our Driver ( my beloved Husband ) did not give up. Thanks to the Ipoh people who guided us there too

The Long Q for the Mah Chee and Peanut Soup ..... Really a Must Go Place at Ipoh

The Uncle is preparing the mah chee balls using hand leh .. not in Penang where the seller use the stainless steel thing to chop the glutinous paste ...

Really Shock at frist because RM1.50 for this small portion ... BUT ..But worth it ! because the taste is Really GOOD , the Mah Chee is QQ NenNen ..... WOWOWWOWOWO !

The Peanut Soup ... also RM1.50, the soup was thick and very creamy .. .YUMMY

Paiseh to ask the uncle how many pots they sell one day . Ok next round will ask liow ...

... We arrived Penang at 6.30pm after our 14 hours trip to Ipoh .. All of us was very satisfied with this trip and K and P .. U have to see la who is the Itinerary planner and tour guide...

And please remember our Lorong Po GARDEN !!! hahahha

Hock till Ipoh ... Part 3

We headed to Tambun, where we can find famous and fresh Pamelo. Malaysia Pamelo is originated from Ipoh I think ( ??? )

We can basically get the fruits anywhere at Ipoh town , but the freshness and the price wont be the same .. compared at tambun.

The place behind the shop where they stored the fruits ...

The Famous Pamelo .. per piece is only RM8.50 , was told in Penang was RM10.00 per piece

The Fresh Buddha's Palm. The aunty told us that the fresh fruit is usually for prayers and they usually process it to Jeruk' . The taste of the fresh fruit is Bitter ...

The Green Kam .. very sweet ...

The ReD Dragon fruit.. 1kg is RM5.00 and 2 Kgs is at RM9.00

Good DEAL ? No idea .. cos i dont really like the fruit ... :P

The Cikus !!!!! Aunty was telling that the sharp shape the flesh is smoother and the round type the flesh is rougher ... Anyway to me I missed out Ciku tree at my Kampung !

Hock till Ipoh .. Part 2

After our heavy lunch at Yee FAtt , Curry Mee , we decided to walk to the Tow Boh Kong temple across the street. In front of the busy crowded temple we saw one bIg stall selling Mee Ku Kuih .. I believed there is around 20 workers making the Mee Ku and we decided to try out the Longivity Bun , which the lady told us the filling is pandan lotus , normally those buns the fillings will be peanuts.

The King of the Mee Ku ( Rm80 per set ) Very cute and the Ku ( tortoise) made me think of Nemo ... hahahah see those eyes.... ???

Hock till Ipoh ... 1st october 2008 ( part 1 )

Me and Peter, and 2 other friends... made a last minute plan to Ipoh Just to makan and look see look see ... ( actually is us last minute 'forced' them to go la.... )

We departed Penang at 4.50am and reached Ipoh at 6.30am. The 1st stop for the makan place will be this Yoke Fook Moon Restaurant for Dim Sum.

We ordered few plates of Dim Sum. Maybe too early, we cant really go for more, or maybe we wanna safe our tummy for other treats from our long food tour itinerary ... :P

We tar pow back the Bird's Nest Egg Tart which cost us at Rm3.50 per piece. It is in bites size , as big as 50cent coin.. To me is a bit expensive..but something new ...

This is a special Dim sum we had. The crust is actually from the Cream Crackers, ( Kiam Pneah ) Special but taste so so....

On the way out from the restaurant we saw this BIG pau ... I think the size is like our nomal 0.5kgs butter cake that we can get in bakery ...
Too big for us and a NO NO too ..

This is the second stop. We went to this 50 years of history shop for Curry Mee. They served few others food such as Loh Mai Kai .. but too bad, by the time we reached there at 12pm the Loh Mai kai already finished.... So we ordered the Curry Mee only. They served two types of curry mee. One soup base and one Kuan Loh ... Very very tasty ... This is a must place to go when we are in ipoh ...

This is the Soup base, which is really good Kick if you love hot spicy soup .... WOW !

Below is the dry types... The curry is very creamy and ... ( next round I will bring along the bengali roti for the extra curries ... )
Both they are selling for RM3.90 per bowl and really good ... A must try in Ipoh !

Fish Head Bee Hoon ... Our Old Place ..

Me and my former Managers, usual breakfast gathering will be at this coffee shop, which sells good fish head Bee Hoon at Jalan Burmah opposite Eon Bank.

They have varieties of fish meat / head noodles, but we will usually ordered their famous Fish Head Bee Hoon in Soup and Dry Noodles with Fish Meat...

Dry Noodles with Fish Meat .. This is good ! My Favourite

This is the Bee Hoon Soup ... The soups looks oily but Nope it is not oily at all ... Very nice ...

The Kopi O .. This is what we called Kopi O Kau ... only Rm0.80

The Stall ... I think they are Brothers...

Ok they only operates in the Morning and closed on Alternate Tuesday ...

At this place, you can also find good bak kut teh. Although the price is a bit expensive and the lady is a bit not friendly, but still the bak kut teh is good ... Can try ....

Wonderful Lunch at Tasty P&C Restaurant

Today Keith, Pauline, Peter & Me we went to this shop at Jalan Anson, opposite the Anson Road Market. . The name of the place is Tasty P&C Restaurant.

When the lady showed us the Menu, I faster flipped to the back of the Menu, ( where usually the beverages and thong sui list is ... ) and I ordered my favourite Mango Sago. At the end 4 of us ordered all ( only 4 types laaaa ) their thong sui and we share share la ....

To me the best is still the Mango Sago .. While eating the Mango Sago, I was thinking our best Friend Yvonne Teh. .. She missed this time ... ( Yvonne no problem la .. we will go with you next round ya ? )

So we ordered varieties of Delicious Food and below were the pictures ...

.. Afternoon at Black Canyon Coffee House

Me and Peter loved coffee very much ... or should I said we cant live without a Cup of Coffee per day... ha ha ha ..

We tried the New Coffee house at Black Canyon at AEON Seberang Prai

The coffee house was quite impressive, from the lightinings to the interiors.. The setbacks is they dont have the cosy chair like Starbucks and Coffee Bean so we can lepak around longer.. Maybe thats the reason behind of those missing chairs...

The foreign waiters that speak fluent English was friendly and very pro-active by recommending us the many choices of coffee and food from the Menu..

After going through awhile, we decided to order the Blended Green Tea with Milk ( for a change ) and Peter with Jamaican Iced Coffee. Looks like we have nothing to munch so I suggested a plate of French Fries ...

The pricing was reasonable and it is a good place to cool down after a HOT shopping ...

Why this is Funny name Chiak - C - Hock ??? .. ???

Whis This Funny name Chiack-C-Hock ??? ... ???

Chiak C Hock = this is in hokkien and the meaning is Eat is Luck / Something very Good

Even Penang Lang admitted that "Penang Lang" really loves to Eat and have picky and choosy taste on food.... I remembered my friend was telling, when you are at overseas and you heard a person commented on the food and being picky and choosy, he or she is definately from Penang ! How true... ????

For us we agreed on that statement because we are both the same ..

So in this blog, we will share with our friends, the food that we this choosy couple felt is nice.. and lets us share the Hock Together, with our friends.

When Good is Hock, When is Good food is Hock Food .... you agree ?
